What is the thing with the Mustache?
So you put on a mustache... it might take you a while, others just a couple of days but at some point people recognise it as a mustache and they sure do let you know. If I grew a second head I think I would get less attention. Maybe people would say "nice second head Cian, can it talk yet?" But if you have a mustache people want to know why? Well the same reason I cut my hair or don't cut my hair or wear a new jumper. Because I think it looks good on me. I might not even think it looks that good on me but I am curious enough to try it or bored with how I normally look so I change it... its a normal thing to do. But if you grow a mustache people take it as a valid reason to talk about you as if your not there... "Oh its a good one".. "I bet you could grow that in five days"... "how long have you had it"... "hey Cian you have something on your lip".... some people really like it, and they tell me so, fine thats a compliment, I'll take that but I don't really need further discussion about it. Why has my mustache suddenly become the weather? And some people, so it seems don't like the addition to my face of a mustache, you can tell because they ask questions like "Oh, is it for charity?" or "are you trying to look like someone from the 70's?" If I was wearing a shirt and someone asked me was I wearing it for charity I would be offended... not so much offended but I would wonder why the hell they had said it.
Or people offer fashion suggestions about what I should do with it... "you should grow it long and curl it" - "you should do a hitler mustache, or a handlebar" what? Why? Look after your own lives... get your own mustache... they are not a phenomenon... people have always grown them... I am including women in that statement, why has it become such a thing and because I grow one I become part of that thing... I don't want to be part of that thing... its just a mustache please talk about the weather and talk to me not about me. I'm going to shave it off and grow a second head, lets see if that changes the conversation.
